“Positive Programming” is an exciting project for me. I have an ongoing series with natural avenues to programme the mind, body and spirit (or energy body) for holistic health and happiness – oneness with all parts of our being.
One of the subjects that many people find powerful is the deliberate-mindfulness-habit of living in the present. There are many suggestions given to people to use as their “mental tool kit.” Some of these useful tips are actions, such as using the main senses to notice what we see, hear and feel in the present moment, representing the current situation, which can bring a better sense of calm. Another useful tip is to notice what is presently in our lives to be grateful for. It is clearly true to say that the present is literally a present – or in other words – a gift! The brain works particularly well in the present, as this is where we currently are. The past has gone; and the future hasn’t manifested as yet.
I would like to use this post specifically to mention a wonderful phrase that has carried through many years that I find particularly useful. When we have this often-terrible habit of “negatively forecasting” an event, our imagination can run riot with all types of possible outcomes. If something is expected to occur, such as an appointment that brings a bit of apprehension, then there is a wonderful phrase that aids the mind to remain in the present. Can you guess the phrase? I hope you haven’t already caught sight of it before scrolling your eyes, or screen down!
The phrase is: “I shall cross that bridge when I come to it.”
I find that this phrase places the future situation out of sight, and brings the present moment back to the forefront. If you’re not agreeing with me, then it helps to say it whilst believing in the words. They are true however, as if you constantly allow your mind to worry, then your mind is already in a different place. I.E, not in the present. You are where your mind is, so choose to make the most of now.
If you don’t like the present situation in your life, then know that we can all recreate our lives anew at any present moment, by: –
Deliberately making new choices;
Changing habits
Using manifestation techniques that also work for the present time, using the statement that begins with “I am…,” or “I have.” The manifestation subject, however, is another topic for another day!
