Are you coping with today’s circumstances?

16 Things You Can Do To Help Your Mental Health

It’s an unusual time for all of us today.

If you are struggling with anxiety, then I can tell you what works for me in order to help you, even if it is one piece that may help.

I’m quite a sensitive soul, so it hurts to see such occurrences – and I know that it impacts every single one of us. It is important for us to have coping mechanisms. If I share my thoughts, then something here may help you.

Here are the things I take part in, and comforting thoughts/words that I tell myself: –

-We are all in this together. You can’t individualise something that is occurring to all of us. If we know we are all going through the same concerns, then surely it is comforting to know that you are not alone in this.

-If we can’t do anything about it, then that should bring a comfort to you. If you can’t do anything about something, then let it leave your mind. Let it go. If you believe you can do something, then do it. I personally believe in the power of prayer and collective thought, so I radiate PEACE as much as I can. The media tells us some terrible things, which lays on many of our shoulders, but we can not take the whole world’s problems on. Let’s be realistic. Help genuine charities if you wish, or help locally if it helps you to feel purposeful.

-I have a knowing that we are passing through this life as an energy/spiritual being. If we are simply passing through, then the Earth isn’t our forever home. This is my personal comfort, but everyone has their personal beliefs.

-Live your life! We still need to live our lives in the best possible manner in order to make the most of our time here. You are not being selfish or ignorant, as we need to keep moving forward for our own wellbeing. As a therapist in my field, I know that if I am no good, then I can’t help others, so that is thinking self-less-ly.

-Keep good routines. Some of us don’t even need to be reminded of this, as the routine is already set with work and family plans. Routines give us a set distraction which can help.

-Have regular walks in nature, or at least in a local park. Walking helps the mind, and nature brings a good feeling. We are nature and nature is us. It is so easy to forget this with all of the distractions.

-Do things that get the good endorphins moving, such as eating dark chocolate and exercising.

-Be with friends and/or family when you can.

-Talk about your thoughts and feelings.

-Do calming things such as mindfulness, meditation or Yoga.

-Eat that cake! Eat that chocolate! Eat with balance/moderation however.

-Radiate love and peace!

-Ensure you live the life you choose to live and not worry about what others think.

-Continue to comfort your mind with thoughts that are loving and caring towards yourself.

-Have the fun of children or animals to lift your energies.

-Be mindful of what you take in by your senses. Eg. If you watch television, then watch more comedy or light-hearted things.
